Is roof cleaning safe for asphalt shingles?
Yes! If the cleaning is done correctly. We follow guidelines given by the Asphalt Roof Manufacturers Association and we have perfected our system over the years. Extreme care is taken to ensure your investment is protected.
Important to note- many roofs, especially in Brookings and Crescent City have been damaged in recent years by newcomers to the industry. This damage is not reversible.
Can pressure washing damage a roof?
Yes. For sure, your roof will lose many years of life if high pressure water is used to clean it. This is why Brightside Wash ONLY uses softwashing to clean roofs.
How is softwashing different from pressure washing?
On sensitive surfaces like paint, Softwashing uses low pressure water to loosen and rinse, while detergents and soaps are used to kill organic growth from the root.this ensures a lasting clean.
Pressure washing is used when durable surfaces like concrete need deep scrubbing. In most cases though, detergents are used after the high pressure to ensure a complete clean.
How long does roof cleaning last?
Brightside Wash has a 1 year guarantee against returning moss. Usually, 2-3 years is the case but in some cases, like under a heavy tree canopy, 1-2 years. That is why we started a maintenance program that defends against returning moss.
How often should a roof be cleaned?
Debris should be removed regularly. Moss should not be given an opportunity to get the upper hand. We suggest, and offer an annual maintenance and gutter cleaning program to keep things going in the right direction with your roof. These are less costly than a full roof cleaning, they are much softer on a roof, and gutter cleanouts are included! Call to book a free consultation.
Are your roof cleaning chemicals safe for pets and plants?
Yes! Brightside Wash ONLY uses Eco Friendly, biodegradeable detergents in our washing. We go the extra mile to protect your plants and pets!
Will roof cleaning void my roof warranty?
No. Our roof cleaning process is safe and will not void your warranty. However, letting moss take over will void your warranty and may cause you to lose your homeowners insurance.
Is soft washing safe for painted siding
Yes! Softwashing is the only method that is safe for housewashing. Experience is still key because some paint pigments react to detergents and will change the color (from blue to hot pink believe it or not). Brightside Wash has washes many, many houses and building and we ensure a safe and clean outcome!
